The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. In this context, the FIER project will be showcased at the SQUARE centre sessions in Brussels.
Everyone has talents that can be used at work and can enhance confidence and esteem! Innovative fast-track integration to the labour market is an important challenge for regions. Through the FIER project (EU funded under EaSI), regions from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Turkey exchange and develop strategies to support integration in the labour market while addressing social and economic cohesion. An interactive workshop is planned and online connections will be made with Turkey (YUVA works with Syrian refugees near the border) and with Sweden, to the Support Group Network (refugees supporting refugees), through which participants will learn about real testimonies and experiences.
The session will be moderated by Andrea Bernert-Bürkle (vhs Baden-Wurttemberg E.V.), and presentations will be delivered by Rolf Ackermann (Baden-Württemberg Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport), Therese Ydrén (Region Västra-Götaland and FIER project coordinator), and Koenraad Vandenbussche (GO! Onderwijs van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap), who will animate the discussions and prepare questions and practical exercises for the audience.
